Amazing how fast a month can go by! I hope everyone had a good weekend. Sorry to all the Cyclone and Hawk fans! As we start a new month, our students will start to transition from mostly review work to new and more challenging material. Please remember if you have concerns to reach out to your child's teacher or team. If you ever want to email your child's team, you can reach them at stjh(initial of team)@wdmcs.org. For example, if you wanted to email the T team, you would email [email protected]. Your email would be received by all teachers on the T team. We want to partner with you in the educational process of your child.
October 18th, 19th and 20th are the dates for Fall Conferences. The opportunity to sign up for conferences will begin Monday, October 3rd starting at 8 am. We strongly encourage you to set up an appointment to meet all of your child's teachers. Conferences is a great way to learn about the skills your child has been learning, problem solve if their or concerns, or learn how the you can partner to support your child. Here is the link to get signed up for conferences! https://www.canyoncreeksoftware.com/scheduler/ia/wdmcs/index.cfm Once again, this fall our school district will be administering the Iowa Youth Survey to our 6th, 8th, and 11th grade students. The purpose of the survey is to collect information about Iowa youth so we can better understand their beliefs, values, and decisions about what makes them feel secure, strong, and safe in their communities, schools, and families. In addition, information is collected about their ideas on alcohol, tobacco, drugs, bullying and harassment, and violence prevention. The information collected will help the state planning agencies, our schools, and local community task forces put together valuable future programming. It is important to ask children to tell us what is good and working about their life in Iowa, and what needs improvement, in their eyes. We are in the process of scheduling when this survey will be administered. Here are some dates to highlight for the month of October:
